The Tessa Jowell Neurology Fellowship

The TJ Neurology Fellowship is an exceptional training opportunity aimed at clinicians nearing the completion of their training in neurology, who want to develop a specialist interest in neuro-oncology. They will gain expertise in all aspects of the diagnosis and management of neuro-oncology patients. The fellowship provides a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment and research of brain tumours, preparing fellows to deliver high-quality patient care and develop the skills to lead high-impact research and trials.

The successful candidate will be based at the Regional Neuro-oncology unit at King’s College Hospital (KCH) and Guy’s Hospital Cancer Centre. The Unit is a Tessa Jowell Centre of Excellence and provides team-based care in all aspects of neuro-oncology delivered by a large multi-disciplinary team.  The post will be supervised by Dr Gerald Finnerty, Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Neurologist.

About the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission

The Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission (TJBCM) is dedicated to transforming brain tumour treatment and research in the UK. The TJBCM collaborates with government, academia, NHS, charities, and patient groups to accelerate research, advance precision medicine, improve care for brain tumour patients and train and connect the workforce. The Tessa Jowell Fellowship programme is designed in partnership with the National Institute of Health and Care Research to cultivate the next generation of leaders in neuro-oncology.

Funding: The fellowship is fully funded, covering salary, travel, conference bursaries, and administrative costs. It is co-funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and King’s Health Partners.

The application window for the 2024 Tessa Jowell Neurology Fellowship opens on 31 May 2024 and closes on 30 June 2024. Interviews will take place on July 8 2024 (virtual).
